art in public space / kunst in de publieke ruimte - Sinds 2006 werken de Rotterdamse beeldende kunstenaars Ron Blom en Willem van Hest samen aan sociaal-artistieke projecten. 'de ontmoeting' is de naam waaronder zij zichzelf en de projecten presenteren. De beide kunstenaars hebben altijd gezocht naar een verbinding tussen hun individuele werk in het atelier en de wereld daarbuiten. Ron Blom en Willem van Hest zijn beiden al jaren bezig met workshops, op scholen en in buurten, waarin voornamelijk geschilderde producten werden gemaakt. Samen ontwikkelen zij nu ook projecten die verder gaan. Door zich te richten op een bredere doelgroep en product. Het publiek dat deelneemt als vormgever van de werken, maar ook door mensen uit te nodigen als gast deel te nemen aan een cultureel evenement. In de beroepspraktijk als beeldend kunstenaar onderzoeken en ontwikkelen Ron Blom en Willem van Hest educatieve en sociaal-artistieke projecten in de publieke ruimte. Cultuur is het vertrekpunt, opgevat als cultuurhistorie, erfgoed en kunst, maar ook als de verzameling actuele cultuur van de bewoners van een bepaalde plek. Het individu staat centraal.
